JRS relies on help from friends and supporters who believe in second chances and the promise of youth.
Our courtroom representation is supported by the Orleans Public Defenders. But that support does not cover our most innovative work - the holistic advocacy that helps children and their families solve the problems that lead to arrests. Please help us to make a difference in the lives of New Orleans' children and in the long-term safety of our community.

What Your Donation Means to Us
Your support can make all the difference in the life of a young person and in the security of our community:
- $5000 is the cost of two months of a full-time, professional youth advocate's services for our clients. That means intensive, wrap-around advocacy through hundreds of contacts between the most at-risk youth and a caring, trained professional.
- $1000 represents the approximate cost of representing a client throughout probation or parole - a team of JRS staffers working closely with the child and his or her family.
- $500 allows JRS to craft a comprehensive and individualized service plan for a client, including a complete psychosocial assessment, arranging and transporting the client for intake interviews and testing with service providers, and following up to ensure the plan's success.
- $250 helps JRS to retain expert developmental psychologists who can administer evidence-based tests and evaluate youth for educational needs.
- $100 covers biweekly transportation costs for each JRS youth advocate. Our youth advocates do not have desk jobs. They are constantly driving around the metropolitan area to see their clients and visit with schools and service providers, an average of about 220 miles per week.
- $50 is a significant contribution to our Client Welfare Fund, purchasing holiday meals for detained youth and covering costs like transportation and school supplies for our clients.
